Top Five Comedy Characters in Television

Well, you readers aren't nearly as potentially violent as I thought you were. I thought for sure everyone had a secret list of people they'd like to fight... Anyway! How about your favorite comedy characters on tv (living or dead)? And, hold your horses, we'll do drama characters soon.

Mine:
1. Lucy by Lucille Ball
2. anyone by Carol Burnett
3. George Costanza by Jason Alexander
4. Jeeves by Stephen Fry
5. Cartman

Tip o' the hat to KHM for the idea!

Good Top Five!

In no particular order:

1. Larry David-Curb Your Enthusiasm
2. Kramer-Seinfeld
3. Re-run-What's Happenin'?
4. Harry Stone-Night Court
5. Sam Malone-Cheers

1. Cosmo Kramer: I've noticed that there are two kinds of people: Kramer fans and George Costanza fans. There's never been a character like Cosmo Kramer---ever. And truth be told, if you knew George Costanza, wouldn't you smack the shit out of him?
2. Dwight Schrute (The Office, NBC)--ok, we've not had a lot of experience with him but dang if he isn't the most ridiculous thing ever. And only a slight exaggeration of some very real people.
3.Ed -- Northern Exposure. What can we say about this dude? Effortless.
4. I'll second Eric Cartman. "Kyle's Mom is big fat b#tch..."
5. Mary Katherine Gallagher -- SNL (Molly Shannon). I have a magnet of her on my fridge.

Ages ago! Oh, Dwight Schrute is a good one. And Ed! I love Ed. I agree with you about George - he's a terrible human being, but for some reason I find him (and Larry David) so hilarious.

3. George Michael Bluth - Arrested Development (Star Wars home video!)
4. Elaine - Seinfeld (the dance!)

No particular order

1. Festus from Gunsmoke - the original double-negative king "He ain't never did nothing to nobody, Matthew". And the way he'd bug his eyes out or roll them around - shoot, just walkin' he was funny.

2. The West Wing staff - especially the 1 & 2 seasons.

3. My girlfriends

4. Tony Shalube (sp?)

5. Kids

Wait a minute! Does it have to be just in television? Cause then my girlfriends don't work but the kids still do sort of, well, rats! I don't know how to get this back to fix it so now I'm screwed and identified as a person who doesn't follow directions - well just put it on my inaddequacies list under burning up food ,,, ma

Dag, I have to amend mine and through out Stephen Fry and put in Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) on 30 Rock!
