Game Shows

I'm sure you all heard last week was Bob Barker's last episode of The Price is Right. So today we are discussing Top Five Game Shows: A Bob Barker Tribute List.

My List:

1. The Price is Right-An obvious choice. But seriously, can any other show match the excitement of Plinko? the cut-throat competition of the contestant who bids $351 after the contestant before him bid $350? the hilarious boos that ensue after a contestant fails to spin the wheel a full 360 degrees on the Showcase Showdown? the shockingly coy contestant who gets to reach directly in to Bob's pocket for a $100 bill after bidding an exact amount? Game shows can get no better.

2. Win, Lose, or Draw-My favorite as a kid. What a great idea for a show, b-list celebs get together and play charades by drawing instead of acting it out. And the set was had couches and a coffee table like they were right there in your living room.

3. The Newlywed Game-I'm telling you, the urban legend of the lady who gave a saucy answer to the question "where's the most uncomfortable place you've ever had sex?" really did happen, I saw it on a game show bloopers program once.

4. Stump the Schwab-You probably don't know this one. It's a sport trivia game show where contestants try to stump the head of ESPN's research department. Geeky, I know.

5. Hollywood Squares-What a great idea for a show, c-list celebs give scripted yet hilarious answers to trivia questions and the contestant has to either agree or disagree to get their X or O on the life-size tic-tac-toe board ... genius. Although I will say when I was a kid and had a huge crush on Punky Brewser I watched the show for an entire week and she only got chose once. What a gyp. (on an unrelated note, Punky Brewster is still hot)

What's your Top Five?

Mom says in no order:

1. Hollywood Squares, loved the old ones.
2. High Rollers, Alex Trebec before Jeopardy
3. Jeopardy, I loved it when I started knowing some of the answers
4. Price is Right, come on down
5. Match Game, a truly silly show

In no particular order:

1) The Price Is Right - I always watched this when I was home, even twice last week ......

2) Family Feud - My favorite host was Ray Combs. And you'd never know when a soap opera cast would come on.

3) Jeopardy - It really got exciting when all the values doubled.

4) Card Sharks - What was with game shows doing surverys?

"What percent of people surveyed like tuna?"

Contestant1: "Tuna's good for you... I think 60%."

Constetant2: "Hmm, that seems high. I don't like tuna - I'll say lower!!"

"It's actually 55% ... you start out with a Jack!!"

5) Win Ben Stein's Money - Great show. Where else would you see an ex-Nixon laywer with new-comer Jimmy Kimmel?

- a mulder

"unusual" place, I believe, but "uncomfortable" might also apply. (:

Order carefully considered:
1. The X-thousand dollar pyramid: truly the funniest and most spontaneous game show. I know I'd have kicked butt on that show.

2. Win Ben Stein's Money--Jimmy Kimmel and BS together were hilarious.

3. Jeopardy -- you know how I love to be a know-it-all.

4. Newlywed Game -- silliness for sure but how did they manage to find all those stupid people?

5. Hollywood Squares--I remember snarky Paul Lynde in the center square...

Dang, Punky is hot!

1. Family Feud (Richard Dawson) - who doesn't want a big sloppy kiss from him?

2. Jeopardy - Fun trivia, and I've seen three people that I know on the show over the years.

3. Price is Right - Reminds me of summer time lunchtime and sick days. My favorite line, "A new car!"

4. Double Dare (Mark Summers) - the kids game show where you got to pick a huge nose to find a prize!!!
Awesome!!! You also got to regularly slide around in a substance called gak.

5. $100,000 Pyramid - more celebrities and the clock is ticking!

This is probably the only time I actually have them in order.
1. Jeopardy
2. Price Is Right
3. Double Dare
4. Cash Cab
5. Name That Tune

Punky Boobster is still smokin' hot (even without the back-breakin' boobies)!
