In coming up with this list I realized how little dramas I've watched.
In no particular order:
1. Detective John Munch-Homicide, Law and Order
2. Jimmy McNulty-The Wire
3. Tony Soprano-The Sopranos
4. Nicollette-Big Love
5. Dr. Doug Ross-ER
mmmm. let's see:
1. Det. Frank Pembleton -- Homicide
2. Det. Lewis Meldric -- Homicide
3. Luther Mahoney -- Homicide and hands down the most evil villain on television EVER; Marlo Stanfield had nothing on Luther.
4. Tony Soprano -- The Sopranos
5. Ruth Fisher -- Six Feet Under, but it was tough to leave Nate Fisher off this list.
Looking at my list and Lyman's I'd say dramatic serial televsion got a lot better once HBO entered the game. I also might say we share dvd collections.
Buffy - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Angela - My So-Called Life
Fred - Angel
Veronica - Veronica Mars
Peggy - Mad Men (that show's awesome!)
Not in order:
1. D.B. Cooper - Twin Peaks
2. Veronica - Veronica Mars
3. Mrs. Coach (Tami)Taylor - Friday Night Lights
4. Coach Taylor - Friday Night Lights
5. Ned - Pushing Daisies
(I would have included Buffy Characters, but it's so genre-smashing, I just can't bring myself to call it a Drama.)
1. Felicity Porter - Felicity (we cut our curly hair off at the same time by coincidence - both after a breakup!)
2. Laura Ingalls Wilder - Little House on the Prairie (one of my all time favorite show, nearly every episode can make me cry)
3. J.R. Ewing - Dallas (he is the nastiest character, but has the best (horribly un-PC) one-liners)
4. Henry VIII - Tudors (JRM is HOT!)
5. Angela Chase - My So Called Life (so identified with her my senior year in high school, except I didn't get into trouble or dye my hair, BUT other than that. . . )
Kathy, I KNEW you were going to include someone from LHoTP!
I know, I have it bad for that show!
KBM---JRM is SO hot...mmmmm. I get very verklempt watching him in Bend it Like Beckham with my daughters ;-)
Also, did you catch him in August Rush? he looked great in that movie, too!
Oh, yeah. August Rush was the first thing I've really seen him in. Didn't care for the movie so much, but loved him. Are you watching Tudors second season?
I'm not so sure I'm going to watch the second season as I was beginning to be disgusted with all of his lecherous ways. And guilty, I suppose, for enjoying him so much...yummm. How about you, KBM?
