Its time once again to bid farewell to another 365-cycle of our lives. If you're anything like me you've experienced a lot of ups, downs, laughter, heartache and fun over the past year. So what are your favorite memories of 2007?
My list:
1. The birth of my son.
2. Our fantastic vacation to Hawaii.
3. Attending Superbowl XLI to root the Colts to victory.
4. Christmas back home in Indiana after some unexpected hardship.
5. Catching a baseball at an Astros game.

Winter Holiday Traditions
Tell us your top five holiday traditions - the ones you've done for years, and the new ones you're creating now!
Mine:
1. Put up a Christmas tree asap
2. Visit our family members
3. This year we bought an advent calendar in the shape of a house with little doors and we filled each day with tiny presents.
4. Each year M. and I buy a new ornament for each other - that's a throw-back to my childhood when my mom bought us a ornament every year
5. Make a great meal on Christmas day

Favorite Winter Holiday Songs
One of my favorite things about the holidays is pulling out my Christmas albums singing along. I also love finding new music, so I'm somewhat selfishly hoping to make some discoveries with this post, and I hope you will too!
1. The Weepies, All That I Want - this is that song that plays during the Old Navy commercials, lame, I know, but it's a really good song.
2. Tracy Chapman, O Holy Night- Most people pull out all the stops for this song, but I just love how her version is so mellow.
3. Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLaughlin, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - this is such a fun song, and I love how they have fun with it.
4. John Denver, What Child is This
5. Oh, Come, Oh Come Emmanuel - these last two are my favorite to sing by myself or with someone else, or to listen to by just about anyone.

News Stories of 2007
Nothing can top our infamous VP shooting an old man in the face last year (oh, it still kills me!) but there were some doozy news stories in 2007 too. What were your favorites? The ones that made you laugh, the ones that made you cry, the ones that shocked you, the ones that made you think, Where's this liberal media I keep hearing about?
Mine:
1 Aqua Teen Hunger Force Bomb Scare
2 Douche Mike Pence saying Iraq was like a market in Indiana.
3 Damien Hirst creates diamond encrusted human skull.
4 Taking the pill "blurs" gender. What century is it?
5 Coyote in Chicago's loop

Television of 2007
Continuing with our "Best of 2007" blowout, what was your favorite TV of 2007? Series, mini-series, TV movie, news program, anything.
My list:
1. The Sopranos-Loved the ending, loved the last season.
2. Californication-I'm the only person I know who likes this show so much. I first started watching because a friend of Carrie and I's was in the first few episodes but it really hooked me. The cast is great.
3. The Office-Funniest show on TV, but in one of the greatest tragedies of 2007, our DVR screwed up and we had to re-boot our cable box. As I result I'm behind about 6 episodes.
4. The Daily Show-Still great despite the rotating cast of 'correspondents'.
5. Big Love-I find the 'Law of Diminishing Returns' usually applies to most TV dramas and that is the case with Big Love. Although not as deep as the first season, season 2 was still engaging and dramatic.

Songs of 2007
I was pretty thrilled that Lyman invited me to be a contributor to Top Five because I'm an OCD List Maker and I think this is a really cool site. We're planning a Top Five Blow-Out for the end of 2007 - so be sure to check in twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays), and post your Top Five in the comments!
To get things rolling, list your Top Five Songs of 2007 - that doesn't necessarily mean songs that were released in 2007, just the songs that have been wearing out your play list this year - the songs your S.O. can't stand to hear one. more. time. Your soundtrack of 2007.
Here's mine:
1. Anchorage by Michelle Shocked - this is an old song, but I just discovered it this year. It's a song about long time friends that have lost track of each other and gone different directions in life, but very sweet.
2. Drive Somewhere by the Vulgar Boatmen - another oldie. Also check out You and Your Sister.
3. Lovestoned/I Think She Knows by Justin Timberlake. My pal John Mayer clued me into this song a few weeks ago - I plan to wear that sh*t out by the end of the year!
4. Long Time Traveler by the Wailin' Jennys - gorgeous a capella about, uh, death.
5. Less Talk, More Rokk by Freezepop - my favorite song on Guitar Hero 2 (is that lame or really cool?), bought the cd on a whim and it rocks! I mean, ROKKZ!
