Television of 2007

Continuing with our "Best of 2007" blowout, what was your favorite TV of 2007? Series, mini-series, TV movie, news program, anything.

My list:

1. The Sopranos-Loved the ending, loved the last season.

2. Californication-I'm the only person I know who likes this show so much. I first started watching because a friend of Carrie and I's was in the first few episodes but it really hooked me. The cast is great.

3. The Office-Funniest show on TV, but in one of the greatest tragedies of 2007, our DVR screwed up and we had to re-boot our cable box. As I result I'm behind about 6 episodes.

4. The Daily Show-Still great despite the rotating cast of 'correspondents'.

5. Big Love-I find the 'Law of Diminishing Returns' usually applies to most TV dramas and that is the case with Big Love. Although not as deep as the first season, season 2 was still engaging and dramatic.

What's your Top Five?

1. Pushing Daisies - the BEST show on TV these days.
2. 30 Rock - Alec Baldwin doing therapy with Tracy Jordan was like the funniest thing I've ever seen on tv.
3. The Daily Show - they've were killing before the writers walked.
4. The Office
5. The New Adventures of Old Christine - that show's really funny!

In no particular order:

-Pushing Daises. K's on to something. Easily the best new show this year.

-John From Cincinnati. Eh, despite the negatives, I enjoyed this show. I'm saddened there won't be a second season, as the characters were wonderful.

-Daily Show & Colbert Report
For obvious reasons, those shows never disappoint, and often cement my appreciation of them.

And though I'm sure I'll regret using my fifth as this:
-Chuck.

I wanted to talk the wonderful subversion that is Dexter, and the pure enthralling genius that is Frisky Dingo, but quite frankly, Chuck has went on for a surprising length without losing is geeky appeal. As a geek, for a geeky-show to not have offended me, makes that show very endearing.

30 Rock - I just got into this show this season, but it's hilarious.

Psych - on USA, it's sort of like Monk but much funnier.

Venture Brothers - on Cartoon Network (Adult Swim), it's like Jonny Quest with a sick spin.

Reaper - A great show about a 20-something being sold by his parents to the Devil. He's now the Devil's bounty hunder. And it's a comedy!

I'll have to chose Pushing Daisies for my 5th choice. I was worried that the style would get old after a few episodes, but it's still fresh. Plus Kristin Chenoweth in low-cut shirts doens't hurt.

1. Pushing Daisies - Lovely in every way. Love the musical scenes. Could live without KC's low cut outfits.
2. The Office - I especially loved when they had hour-long episodes this fall. Got to know the characters better.
3. Big Love - A very interesting perspective on family life.
4. Heroes - I've kind of faded on this one, but it had me hooked all of early 2007.
5. Rock of Love with Bret Michaels - Yes, I have to watch at least one trashy show a year, and this one rocked!

I watched the first Pushing Daisies and to be honest I thought it someone trying to knockoff Tim Burton's style.

But I fully planned on watching more episodes but the aforementioned DVR debacle has prevented that.

Outside of sports, I have tried to limit my tv viewing, but my regular shows are:

1. Heroes - agree with kbmulder and that the early part of this season was a little convoluted, but it picked up strong towards the end and I hear the second half of the season (if it happens) will have a different look and will feel more like the first season.

2. Lost - I'm still hooked, especially now that it has a definite timeline to finish and not die a slow painful death.

3. Pushing Daisies - Lyman, it really is as good as we all think. Barry Sonnefield is an executive producer, which I think is part of where it gets it's "look".

4. Chuck - copy jeffool's comments.

5. House/Notes From the Underbelly - I don't watch either enough to constitute a full show, but I catch them enough to find them entertaining.

Lyman and I have evidently been apportioned a single brain to share vis a vis television:
1. The Sopranos--but Lym's wrong, the ending was a total cop-out.
2. The Office--c'mon--characters like Dwight Schrute come along once every twenty years or so.
1. The Wire -- Season 4 did air this year, Lyman.
2. John from Cincinatti -- something delicious about Butchie Yost...
2. Entourage -- ensemble cast par excellence; rivals Seinfeld
2. 30 Rock -- Alec Baldwin is *so* nasty!

but I could only rank two 'cuz i don't watch much TV...

No order:

Doctor Who

Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil

Metalocalypse

America's Test Kitchen

Daily Show, except for the interview. I usually hate that segment.

Hating Chris Kimball is part of the beauty of the show! (:

Pushing Daisies - Yeah, definitely one of the best this season.

Heroes - Got off to a slow start this season, but finished strong.

Life - I don't know that many folks are watching this one, but it's really good.

Psych - Hilarious.

30 Rock - I really hope Tina Fey gets to do more stuff like this.

Chuck - Adam Baldwin makes that show fun. Go Jayne!

(yeah, I know I listed six... what)

1. Veronica Mars- It may be gone now, but in 2007 it was still the best show that couldn't attract an audience.

2.Flight of the Conchords - Amazing stuff. The songs are the best genre send-ups since Weird Al's early stuff. "I'm the muthaflippin'..."

3. Pushing Daisies- Y'know, I agree that it's very, very good (Any tv show that *sings* They Might Be Giants is pretty cool in my book), but it is sort of like "Dead Like Me" meets "Wonderfalls."

4. 30 Rock- Honestly, the best comedy on right now. I'd love to say the Office 'cause I like the characters better, but 30 Rock guarantees at least one laugh-out-loud moment per night. When *did* Tracy Morgan get funny?

5. Project Runway- the one reality show that you don't have to feel insecure in what is says about your that you watch it. Unless you're insecure in your sexuality, but that's your problem.

No order b/c I don't think I watch 5 regular tv shows.

Nip/Tuck- my husband's right, I like the butt shots.

How I Met Your Mother- I love the character Barney.

I am a little embarrassed to say my daytime soap "The Young and the Restless" I have been watching on and off for years since I was little.

Scrubs- I would love to act like this at work sometimes too.

Oh Boy!!
TV! My favorite!!

1. Veronica Mars. RIP, V. Canceled too soon (but still on in 2007, so it counts, right?)

2. Pushing Daisies. Love love love it!! And also read on Wikipedia that the character Harriet Hayes on Studio 60 is based on Kristin Chenoweth! Evidently she used to date Sorkin. Of course, it's Wikipedia, so who knows if it's true. Tomorrow it could say that Kristin Chenoweth is made out of sausages.

3. Friday Night Lights. I hate football, but I love this show!! Which probably means it's going to be canceled. TV execs hate me and my tastes.

4. 30 Rock. After a dicey pilot, it turns out that this show is hilarious! I am so glad we gave it another chance!! Thanks, everybody for forcing it upon us. Really!!

5. the Office. After a dicey pilot, it turns out that this show is hilarious! I am so glad we gave it another chance!! Thanks, everybody for forcing it upon us. Really!!

Aargh!
My number 5 should've been Friday Night Lights.
