John Hughes Movies

What would the 80's have been like without John Hughes? His movies capture teenage life in the 80's perfectly.

So what are your favorite John Hughes movies? (we can figure movies he wrote or directed into the list, see IMDB link above)

My List:

1. The Breakfast Club-Nobody and I mean NOBODY was as cool as John Bender. DID I STUTTER?

2. Ferris Bueller's Day Off-Well, maybe Ferris comes close to being as cool.

3. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles-What a fantastic movie this is. John Candy's best for sure. Funny and touching at the same time.

4. Sixteen Candles-Grandma Helen: Oh Sam, let me take a look at you. Fred, she's gotten her boobies.
Grandpa Fred: I better get my magnifying glass. Ha Ha Ha.
Grandma Helen: Oh, and they are so PERKY.

Samantha: I can't believe my grandmother actually felt me up.

5. Some Kind of Wonderful-Mary Stuart Masterson and Lea Thompson in the same movie? Yowza!

What's your Top Five?

2. The Breakfast Club
3. Weird Science - totally played into my geek tendencies

Including writing credits:

1. The Breakfast Club--- the beginning of a long-running crush-type thing for Judd Nelson... great take on adolescent angst.
2. Sixteen Candles-- I swear that I experienced much of those same familial embarassments....
3. Ferris Beuler's Day Off
4. Planes, Trains and Automobiles--Rob insists that we watch it EVERY Thanksgiving.
5. Vacation --- c'mon; give Chevy Chase some love. No one does screw up, goof-ball Dad like him. "We're all gonna have so much fucking fun we'll need plastic surgeory to remove our godamn smiles. You'll be whistling 'Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah' out of you're assholes! " Parenthood; gotta love it.

1. Pretty in Pink- I wanted to be Molly Ringwald
2. The Breakfast Club- I even wrote my informational research report on Molly R. in the 9th grade
3. Sixteen Candles- I even dyed my hair red in high school- mostly it was for a part in a play, but it also made me more like Molly
4. Ferris Bueller's Day Off- No Molly, but very funny
