One of my favorite things about the holidays is pulling out my Christmas albums singing along. I also love finding new music, so I'm somewhat selfishly hoping to make some discoveries with this post, and I hope you will too! 1. The Weepies, All That I Want - this is that song that plays during the Old Navy commercials, lame, I know, but it's a really good song.
2. Tracy Chapman, O Holy Night- Most people pull out all the stops for this song, but I just love how her version is so mellow.
3. Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLaughlin, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - this is such a fun song, and I love how they have fun with it.
4. John Denver, What Child is This
5. Oh, Come, Oh Come Emmanuel - these last two are my favorite to sing by myself or with someone else, or to listen to by just about anyone.

Can't really say I have any specific recordings that I like the most, I'll just list the songs I like:
1. "The Christmas Song"
2. "What Child Is This? (Greensleeves)"
3. "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"
4. "Little Drummer Boy" (Vince Guaraldi's version is without a doubt my favorite)
5. "I'll Be Home For Christmas"

1. Hands down, no question, O Holy Night gives me chills, knocks me out---doesn't matter whose version (mostly) but it needs to be *holy*.
2. Sleigh Ride -- I can still play the flute part from memory; we played every single year in HS Concert Band (and I rocked that piccolo, too, boy!)
3. Please Come Home for Christmas (The Eagles or Aaron Neville)-- no doubt, I'm a sucker for the holiday romance business...
4. Let There Be Peace -- (and let it begin with me...) a nice affirmation of what its about...
5. Carol of the Bells
I really wanted Joni Mitchell's River (puts Blue Christmas to serious shame...) and Aaron Neville's Bells of St. Mary's to make the list --- and if I ever had to get rid of all but one Christmas album, I'd keep Vince Guaraldi's for its "best all-around" lineup.

I basically love them all, but these have lasting memories. The Twelve Days of Christmas has wonderful memories but not really a favorite.

WORD, Lyman!!! That Aunt Mary--what a woman! Thanks for that. She was many many great things but a singer she was not. Never stopped a single one of us.

I use to have the Chipmunk's Christmas record. I really liked it when I was younger. Wish I still had it to show my kids, who probably don't know what a record is.
